Let's try it the other way round. What early evidence is there of joint activity and
togetherness between humans and dogs? The focus is of course on the joint hunting of
man and dog, but also on the protection of herd and household - or better: of tents.
CHAPTER 4 - HUNTING WITH DOGS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF
SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
-Early hunting forms, the sighthound becomes visible?
Buffon already said at the very beginning that man would not have been able to tame
other animals without the help of dogs! He also considers hunting without dogs
unthinkable. Well, he is not quite right. As we know from the bushmen or other primitive
peoples, they also hunt game for days until they are exhausted, without dogs. But the
success of the hunt is quicker if you work with dogs.
But let us look at the research in relation to this question.
Jebel Hamra, “Kite”, a funnel-shaped stone gate, Southeast Sinai
A. Holzer et al. proved in their investigations of funnel-shaped stone gates from the Late
Neolithic in the Negev Desert that they were used to hunt various gazelles, donkeys or
ostriches [27]. One group of hunters drives the animals from behind to the enclosure
while another group stands at strategic points along the way to prevent the animals from
escaping.
