want to thank you all for coming today to honor our dad Daddy
Willie. I know some of you travelled a very long distance to pay
Tribute to Daddy from Iyour respects and I know Daddy would have been excited to see
you all and engage each one of you in a lengthy conversation.
Kwadwo Antwi On Thursday June 2, 2022 as I stood by your bedside you showed the
victory sign over and over and over again before crossing early Friday
morning your soul day June 3, 2022. This was a vivid indication that you
saw the Host of heaven welcoming you and celebrating your life well
lived. As We hanged your banner on the balcony during the one week
celebration, 6 neighborhood boys between the ages of 7 and 11 years
who have been long time beneciaries of the fruits of your garden drew
my attention to the AKA Daddy Willie inscription on the banner and said
and I quote (You guys Know him as Daddy Willie but We know him as Opa
so Please the next poster should include AKA Opa this is our request).
My childhood memories: The tennis courts of Navrongo. The shing trips
to Via Dam The baboon pack we saw at Gambaga forest the day you
sent me back to be disciplined at Akropong
Salem for coming home without an Exit is replaying in slow motion as you
lie motionless.
I feel so grateful to have spent a lot of time with you and will forever
cherish your kindness and criticisms which was sometimes too hot to
handle. Daddy's endless conversations which covered almost every
topic on earth, became a tradition once you visited and exchanged
pleasantries. This tradition played out till the last moments of his journey in
this world. Even with an oxygen mask on, he wanted to have a
conversation
He was a living encyclopedia for names, places, dates, events and
gossips. A Daily Graphic loyal One always picked a lifetime lesson and a
BREAKING NEWS from his lengthy lectures. His Spiritual devotion, the love
for Christ, the church and scriptures could not be challenged. He always
had his quite time before any other daily engagement. He always paid
his tithe before his bills.
