Showing Ch Ricatori Roman King was a real
pleasure for my husband Richard, although I
still tease him to this day and remind him that I
was handling Roman the day he won our first
ever CC. I had travelled up to The Scottish
Bulldog Club and left Richard at home looking
after puppies. Whilst Roman was being shown
he was mostly always up against the Top Male
Bulldog in the UK so when he was awarded
the CC (our very first) in Scotland it was so
emotional. Roman’s daughter also won Best
Puppy Bitch that day so a double whammy!
Our first Champion was Roman’s brother – Ch
Ricatori King Of Meljane who later came back
to the UK to stay with us while I campaigned
him for about twelve months. Otherwise known
as ‘Richie’ he had cleaned up in Spain and we
welcomed the opportunity to have him back and
show him. Roman took a back seat for a while
and we successfully made Richie up. He lives
the life of luxury now back in Spain.
Roman’s third CC came at the Manchester
General Championship Show under Judge – Mr
Nick Connell and he also won Best of Breed.

awarded the green card just got me and I burst
into tears. We have a wonderful photo captured
of the moment the judge hands him the CC.
The Manchester General is a very lucky show
for us and we have been fortunate to have won
Best of Breed three consecutive years running –
Ch Ricatori Roman King 2017, Ricatori Prime
Time 2018 and Ch Ricatori Redesigned 2019!
Crufts 2017 will always be a memory we hold
in our hearts. To cut a long story short, I wasn’t
going to enter Roman. I remember saying to
Richard (who handles him) that there was no
point…. Roman wouldn’t be the judges type,
but Richard said “enter him it’s Crufts, we’ll just
go and have a day out”. The entry was almost
300 for Bulldogs (the highest Utility Breed entry)
and Open Dog is always a packed ring with top
winning Bulldogs from all corners of the world.
Winning Best Of Breed that day was a blur …..
something I only dreamed of and I never thought
for a second I would be sat in the main arena
watching Roman & Richard in the Utility Group
that evening. I am so incredibly proud of him.
We woke up the next morning, had a coffee in
bed and said “did that just happen”!!
We decided to retire Roman after Crufts
finishing on 4CC’s and 3RCC’s. He came out
for one show in 2019 and hadn’t lost his touch,
gaining a respectable 2nd place in a quality
Open class at Paignton.
Roman and Richie’s litter sister produced our
top winning Champion male – Ch Ricatori
Redesigned who I currently campaign.
Otherwise known as Jax, he is a standard male
and took his time maturing into the dog he is
today! He’s a dog I have learnt to love handling,
a bit of a handful as a youngster in the ring (like
his mum) and Richard was able to get his own
back when he handled Jax once for me and
won his first RCC (something he reminds me of
quite often). Currently Jax holds seven CC’s and
three RCC’s along with winning Best of Breed
at Crufts 2019 and Best Male & Best Opposite
Sex Bulldog Of The Year 2019. He is the most
