anything, and they’ll at least try it because their confidence level is such that they feel that they can do anything that is put in front of them and it’s not outside of their comfort zone. They really don’t hold back from trying or doing very many things.
However, when this gets taken to extreme, in Shadow, they can take on too many things and become over-committed. If they can’t get to all the things that they’ve promised in the timeframes that they’ve said they’re going to deliver on, this can be disappointing to people who are counting on them. Another thing that can happen is that in Shadow Sevens may jump between interests, jumping back and forth between projects. They’re easily distracted and have short attention spans. Sometimes if you talk to a Seven in Shadow and you make them stick to a subject longer than they’re comfortable being on that subject, you’ll sometimes see their eyes glaze over. They will seem to move into this distant space, as if they’re looking beyond you, and you will feel

that you’ve just become uninteresting and it’s time to shift gears and move into another topic.
In Best Self, Sevens are friendly and extraordinarily cheerful. They are outgoing, they like to be around people that they can have fun with, and people generally like them. They have an infectious impact on others. They’ve got a sunny personality and a great deal of enthusiasm and that usually rubs off on other people, puts them in a good mood. They generally have lots of friends and acquaintances and they put a lot of energy into their friendships. They’re a priority for them and they usually have huge networks of people they know.
In Shadow, unfortunately, their friendliness and cheerfulness may move into a place where their impulsiveness can make them appear insensitive, uncaring and actually too busy to be attentive or good listeners. Because they want to participate and engage, they may interrupt you, they may change the subject, or they may talk about what’s interesting to them and forget to ask, “how are you doing?”
Sometimes, their relationships can stay on a more superficial note, a more surfacey kind of relationship, because they avoid dealing with painful feelings. They don’t want to necessarily have to go too deep into a relationship and deal with painful stuff, so they keep it on a surface level. They’re friendly and cheerful, but they can be a little bit on the not-too-deep side. And of course this is a myth. This is one of those distortions because they want to be surrounded by a lot of people and have fun and of course sometimes the nature of good relations does require that you have to deal with some of the not so pleasant aspects of a relationship. So by staying on a surface level, sometimes it undermines their ability to keep this large group of friends around them.
In Best Self, Sevens are optimistic and upbeat. They have an unsinkable spirit and they’re known for their boundless optimism, their positive, can-do mentality. Very little is too challenging or too difficult from their perspective. They’re the classic glass half full personality. They see the
