In Shadow, they are very resistant to constraints of any kind. They abhor protocols and rules and conventions; in other words, they go on wing-it mode, they improvise and make things up as they go, they rely on their charisma, which can be a really good thing as long as it’s in moderation. But if it goes to excess, it can get them into trouble.
In Best Self, Sevens are open, they generate lots of opportunities and options, they’re really a wellspring of new ideas. They’re really open to life and what it has to offer. They’re receptive to opportunities that can be enjoyable to them and they really like to keep their options open. They’re real creative out of the box thinkers. They come up with huge amounts of new ideas that they love to share and get everybody to participate in, and again, idea generation and creativity have a purpose for them. These are the antidotes to boredom. It keeps things interesting and not dull and obviously they are quite resourceful in order to maintain a very fun and happy lifestyle.

When Sevens move into Shadow, their openness and their need for options can cause them to have difficulty completing projects. They may have a very difficult time staying with something to closure. They’re really good in the planning stages because that’s the fun part like putting the people together and the network, and they are really good at coming up with ideas, but then when they’re asked to implement or execute, sometimes that becomes very, very challenging for them and they may not even be able to carry through and follow through. What happens in Shadow sometimes is that they can become unfocused, they lack sufficient detail and depth in what they’re doing, and they can come across as unreliable.
Sevens in Shadow generally don’t take the time to thoroughly understand what they’re dealing with. They don’t dig deep enough necessarily into an issue. The way I describe it is they gulp down the information or gloss over it rather than really chewing it and digesting it and ruminating over it. Sometimes that has an adverse impact.
Another thing about them related to this area is that sometimes they have trouble committing. There are some Shadow Sevens who like their options so much, that they’re afraid if they commit to something, there is something they’re missing out on that’s better. That can be a problem if it’s related to a relationship or making a commitment about a career or something of that nature.
In Best Self, because they like to enjoy life and be happy, they are extraordinarily confident, versatile people who exhibit a great deal of diversity in their interests. They’re really the quintessential multitaskers. They’re always juggling lots of balls and that’s deliberate. They’re actually unsettled if they don’t; it’s the opposite of some other PRINTs, like Ones or Sixes, who prefer to do things sequentially, finish one thing and then start another. Sevens deliberately like to keep lots of things open and being handled simultaneously. Again, it keeps things from getting mundane and it keeps them from getting bored. They tend to be a jack of all trades, master of none. Generally, they can do almost
