And we cried unto HASHEM, the God of our fathers, and HASHEM heard
our voice and saw our affliction, and our toil, and our oppression.
And we cried unto HASHEM, the God of our fathers--as it is written “And
it came to pass in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died;
and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried,
and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage” (Shemot 2,23).
And HASHEM heard our voice--as it is written “And God heard their groaning, and God
remembered His covenant with Avraham, with Yitzhak, and with Yaakov”.
And saw our affliction--the disruption of marital life, as it is written “And God saw the children of
Israel, and God took cognizance of them” (Shemot 2,25).

And our toil--these are the sons, as it is written “Every son
that is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter
you shall save alive” (Shemot 1,22).
And our oppression--this is the duress, as it is written
“moreover I have seen the oppression with which the
                                             Egyptians oppress them” (Shemot 3,9).
And HASHEM brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm, and
with great terribleness, and with signs and with wonders.
And HASHEM brought us forth out of Egypt--not
by means of an angel, not by means of a seraph, not
by means of an intermediary--rather the Holy One
blessed be He, Himself, in His glory, as it is written
“For I will go through the land of Egypt in that night,
and will smite all the first-born in the land of Egypt,
both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt
I will execute judgments: I am HASHEM”.
