r. Thomas’ successful development and transformation of GSIS into a world-class
Encomiums D K-12 wholly residential school comparable with the world’s best, is widely ac-
knowledged. Dr. Thomas serves on the board of directors of Rotary International on
whose behalf he has implemented several literacy campaigns in India and abroad.
Moreover, in 2006 the Delhi-based Council for Indian School Examinations (CISCE) con-
ferred its premier Derozio Award upon him. In 1991 he was conferred the Rajiv Gandhi
Award for Human Excellence after he received the Pride of India Gold Medal awarded
by the NRI Institute, USA (1991).

Likewise Elsamma Thomas, principal of Good Shepherd Finishing School, Ooty, has
developed into a champion of quality education for all, and the girl child in particular.
She has been conferred the National Mahila Excellence Award, the Bharat Vikas Award
of the International Business Council and Order of Merit Award of the Indian Council of
Executive Management.
