YOUTH
IN ACTION
Maryland Y Youth & Government (Y&G) is a statewide
model legislative program where high school students
learn how to make government work! You’ll elect your
own youth leaders, legislate bills that you develop and
debate, and lobby for your vision of a better tomorrow.
Youth & Government is a national Y program, active
in approximately 39 states, including the District of
Columbia.. The nation’s first Y&G took place in 1936
in New York – Maryland’s program began in 1945.
Today, over 150 students in grades 9-12 from across
the state of Maryland participate each year in Youth &
Government… and that number is growing!
