DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
The main purpose of descriptive text is to provide a complete
picture and explanation to the readers so that they can understand
the object being discussed clearly.
Generic structure
Identification: introduction, in the form of a general
description of a topic being discussed.
Description: contains special characteristics possessed by
the object, place, or person being described. For
example, the properties, physical appearance, and other
things that are written specifically.
Language Feature
Using nouns for example my car, Jenny's house, and our school.
Using the simple present tense, for example, my family and I live in
a five-room flat.
Using various kinds of adjectives such as describing, numbering,
classifying, for example: Temporary relief, an antique plate, and a
keen.
Using relating verbs that are used to provide information about the
subject, for example: The noodle tastes spicy.
Using descriptions to provide additional information for example:
near the window.
Using figurative language such as simile and metaphor, For
example: the girl is white as chalk
