The Officers’ Workshops were held Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the 79th Eastern Regional
Conference, Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Richmond-Midlothian, Richmond, Virginia. The
workshops were resourceful where Sorors listened to the presentations and actively participated
in discussions. Thanks to the approximately 91 Sorors who participated from the following
chapters:
Alpha (9), Beta (5), Gamma (3), Epsilon (1), Zeta (2), Eta (4), Theta (1), Iota (0), Xi (7), Pi (2),
Rho (3), Alpha Zeta (1), Alpha Lambda (0), Alpha Mu (5), Alpha Pi (2), Alpha Chi (5), Beta
Epsilon (3), Beta Zeta (6), Beta Lambda (1), Beta Omicron (4), Beta Tau (2), Gamma Mu (1),
Delta Lambda (8), Delta Nu (5), Delta Pi (6), Delta Phi (1), Epsilon Alpha (3), Epsilon Sigma
(0), Epsilon Chi (1).
The following chapters were not in attendance at the conference: Alpha Tau and Delta Gamma.
Financial Workshops, Soror Veronica Sawyer-Boyd, Tamiouchos and Soror Dr. Cassandra
Holcomb, Tamias – The workshop focused on the duties and responsibilities of the chapter’s
financial officers. Soror Debra Wade, Supreme Tamiouchos, shared the forms and practices for
the upcoming sororal year. The Eastern Regional Financial Team reviewed the upcoming
changes and processes. They emphasized that each chapter must switch to QuickBooks to
complete their financial records. The presenters willingly addressed the group and answered
questions.
Secretarial Workshop, Soror Donyele Wilkerson, Grammateus, and Soror Cheryl Calicott-
Trawick, Epistoleus – The discussion was held on the duties and responsibilities of recording
accurate minutes to present to the membership. Soror Wilkerson was very resourceful and
thoughtful in her presentation. The chapter’s Epistoleus duties and obligations were highlighted.
Soror Calicott-Trawick distributed and explained the guidelines for the Submission of the 2019
Reports from the regional chairs. Aspiring Grammateus and Epistoleus had many questions
which were answered by the regional secretarial officers. Marjorie McDaniel, Supreme
Grammateus, attended this workshop.
Membership Workshop, Soror Margaret Franklin, Chair – The topic for the 2019 Membership
Workshop was “Membership and Me”. Posters were placed around the room where Sorors
wrote their views on the following topics: Why Members Don’t Stay, Reach Out – Be Open to
Change and Opportunities; Boosting Membership Retention, A Suggestion Box – Make Events
Fun, Reclaiming Members, Recruitment, Retention, Membership Record – It’s in Our MPP – Do
You Use It? And What’s On Your Mind? The attendees were very engaged and thought-
provoking questions were asked and answered by the presenter as well as the participants.
