LOUISIANA LIBATIONS TRAIL
After tasting their way across the state, visitors to Louisiana will need a little something to wash it all
down. Luckily for them, we are crafting more than delicious cuisine. The state is also home to craft
breweries, distilleries and wineries. Each one prides itself on unique flavors, and many utilize local
ingredients to create flavor profiles you won’t find anywhere else in the country. Take a brewery, winery
or distillery tour to get a behind the scenes look at production. Or, dine at a Louisiana restaurant and
order up a craft beer, sip a wine or try a unique specialty cocktail that perfectly complements our local
cuisine. Download the Louisiana Libations Trail digital passport then visit, check in, and earn prizes
along the way! Learn more about Louisiana’s tasty libations at LouisianaLibations.com.

Cajun country. What can be considered a hidden gem, however, are the state’s Gas Station Eats. In the No Man’s Land area, on the western
border of Louisiana, you’ll find down-home, authentic meals in an unassuming location. Louisiana’s Gas Station Eats are like no other –
hearty breakfasts, traditional Cajun delicacies like boudin and cracklins, mouthwatering barbecue, juicy home-style burgers, classic plate
lunch specials, crispy fried seafood, baked goods and more can be found in these casual roadside spots off the beaten path. These no-frills
locations are true dining destinations for those looking for fresh Southern cooking served with a smile.
LOUISIANA SEAFOOD & GREAT AMERICAN SEAFOOD COOK-OFFS
The Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off and the Great American Seafood Cook-Off are high-profile competitions, where chefs from all areas and
backgrounds showcase seafood dishes to celebrity judges. These events result in a long-term working relationship between the Louisiana
Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board and the U.S chef community, enabling the Board to build a team of seafood ambassadors across
the country.
Chef Owen Hohl of Hot Tails in Prairieville is the 2023 King of Louisiana Seafood beating 11 other chefs to win the 16th Annual Louisiana
Seafood Cook-Off presented by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board. For the first time, the event happened in Lake
Charles inside the Golden Nugget Grant Event Center in conjunction with Chuck Tastes Restaurant Night and Visit Lake Charles. To win
the crown, Chef Hohl prepared a plantain scaled grouper highlighting his creativity and the superior quality of the seafood that comes from
Louisiana’s shorelines and vast waterways.
Some of Louisiana’s most seasoned chefs and food lovers served as judges, scrutinizing every detail of each dish. The 2023 Louisiana
Seafood Cook-Off judges included Chef Meg Bickford, Executive Chef at Commander’s Palace in New Orleans; Chef Sophina Uong,
Chef/Owner of Mister Mao New Orleans; Larry Avery, Owner of Big Easy Foods in Lake Charles; and, Jillian Corder, Assistant News
Director and Anchor at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles.
