VISIT JEFFERSON PARISH

     OYSTER TRAIL FOOD STORY
Pace yourself as you dine along the Jefferson Parish Louisiana Oyster Trail. It’s no surprise that Louisiana is the nation’s number one producer of
oysters, as the freshwater from the Mississippi River, and the salinity of the Gulf Coast make the perfect environment to produce the plumpest
     and most appetizing oysters.

While Louisiana oysters are known for their heft, the oysters displayed outside each participating restaurant are super-sized. Along the
Jefferson Parish Louisiana Oyster Trail, you’ll find a three-foot-tall oyster sculpture hand painted by a local artist that sits proudly outside
     each participating restaurant.

Offering a variation of oyster dishes ranging from chargrilled to fried, the Jefferson Parish Louisiana Oyster Trail is where art and cuisine
collide, proving that there are no limits to this southern delicacy.

      LOUISIANA’S RIVER PARISHES

     THE ANDOUILLE TRAIL
Louisiana’s River Parishes has launched The Andouille Trail, an exciting new culinary showcase and celebration of the River Parishes’ unique
contribution to Louisiana cuisine. On this exciting new culinary adventure, locals and visitors will find producers with wooden smokehouses
and recipes handed down generations and restaurants serving up andouille in traditional and inventive ways. More than 34 small businesses
and restaurants are a part of The Andouille Trail.

Andouille can be enjoyed in several different forms prepared by the 34 “links” along the trail. Whether purchasing it at a local grocery store,
shipping it, stopping by a cafe, or even making it at home, there are plenty of options for everyone to get a taste of andouille along the trail.
The Andouille Trail launch is also just a year short of the 300th anniversary of the Germans settling in Louisiana’s River Parishes, introducing
the world to a culinary heritage that continues today. Use the official trail map as a guide to eating your way through the best andouille in the
country, and don’t forget to snag an Andouille Trail Passport, available at all “links” on the trail and at local visitor centers. If you visit five spots
on the trail and send in your passport with five receipts, you’ll receive a complimentary Andouille Trail wooden spoon—and bragging rights, of
course. Everything about the existing new culinary adventure can be found at AndouilleTrail.com.

     NEW ORLEANS SWAMP COUNTRY
Whether cruising the Manchac Greenway on a one-of-a-kind swamp tour, hitting the trails on a particular bike ride, participating in a scenic
family kayak tour, or even zip-lining through the swamps over the shores of Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana’s River Parishes has a wild side. An
added bonus? While channeling your inner thrill-seeker or adventure enthusiast in New Orleans Swamp Country, be sure to check out the
     River Parishes’ world-famous cuisine.

Food is the main ingredient that defines the culture of Louisiana’s River Parishes. The food out here comes from anything locals can hunt,
catch or grow. Surrounding swamps and bayous provide the River Parishes with alligators, frogs, freshwater crabs, crawfish, catfish and a
wide variety of other animals. The flavors of history are found in every meal, and ancient recipes passed down from generations are prepared
and served in the local restaurants. At Spuddy’s Cajun Foods in Vacherie, Louisiana, you’ll create your own foodie experience by making your
own Jambalaya and Gumbo. That’s right, you will create your meal from scratch. Then head down to Noble’s Restaurant for Les Babas de
Chouquette, or as the locals call it, Baba, a soft, sweet, yellow cake covered with a thick, rich custard spread with delicious coconut generously
topped with fluffy meringue spread. Whether enjoying delicious Louisiana seafood at Frenier Landing or fine dining at Ormond Plantation,
Louisiana’s River Parishes can feed your wild side. For your next adventure, visit www.nolaswampcountry.com.
