NEW ORLEANS PLANTATION COUNTRY
Welcome to New Orleans Plantation Country.
Out Here, life that was once torn, now thrives.
In an era of segregation and degradation, a community
of underserved people longed for a place of peace and
spiritual solace.
Th e Historic Riverlands Christian Center retraces the
footsteps of those who fought for a better existence
and allows visitors to see a glimpse of what life was like.
Stoic and unmovable, at the intersection of history and
heritage, lie roots that are thick and intertwined,
reminiscent of the mossy oaks abundant throughout the landscape.
reminiscent of the mossy oaks abundant throughout the landscape.
At St. Michael’s Catholic Church, visit its most unique feature, the Lourdes Grotto, added to the church in the
1870s. Constructed by elements that pay homage to our region, the grotto represents the River Parishes spiritual
past and present.
Out Here, explore where certain aspects of history stop; and discover how the Historic Riverlands became a
pillar and beacon of hope for those who sought something greater.
Sip a mint julep under the shade of the oaks, wander the grounds of historic homes and pull back the many
layers of our cultural heritage.
