WYNTER COOK…..
HOW WILL YOU HANDLE THESE CHALLENGES ?
FACING ADVERSITY Caused by COVID-19 Pandemic, Systemic Racism, Blacks Murdered by Police:
As a young Black woman, it pains me every day to see my people unjustifiably murdered. As tensions
grow we are no longer only targeted publicly by police but, as I look around at my neighbors and
surrounding community the ugly face of racism grows in numbers. My motivation in standing tall and
facing this adversity is knowing the greatness that my people and I possess. Looking back at history
and seeing how my ancestors fought for me and for my opportunity to be where I am at this very
moment is why I fight. I will not disrespect their memory by laying down and taking what is given. I
will stand and fight for what we deserve.
KEEPING YOUR FAITH In God to Overcome the Adversities You Will Surely Face:
My motivation for keeping my faith in God stems from remembering what he has done for me. I am a
person who believes that all things are according to his design. That even in great pain, God is preparing
us for a greater blessing. I have weathered life without prayer and I have prospered in life with it. God
is my Shepherd and I want more than anything to make him proud.
STAYING COMMITTED TO ACHIEVEMENT Academic Success, Individual Development, and Spiritual
Growth:
Acting is a risky dream to chase. My commitment is linked with my love for it. I believe that it is my
calling and I refuse to waste any opportunity in it. Academically my motivation stems from the need to
make my mother proud. Seeing as she alone raised me and two younger siblings I want to honor her.
She deserves to see her labors paid off, to know that her dedication to us was not in vain.
Spiritually I am committed to growth in my relationship with God because I will not make it without
him. This is his plan for my life. Who am I to walk it without him by my side?
