About Post Falls
Post Falls, Idaho, continues to be one of the fastest-growing cities in the state—an inviting place to live,
work, and play. Nestled between the natural beauty of North Idaho and the resources of nearby urban
centers, Post Falls offers an exceptional quality of life.
Located just minutes from the five-star Coeur d’Alene Resort and world-renowned floating green golf
course, and adjacent to Spokane, Washington (population ~250,000), Post Falls is ideally positioned. Its
unique location along the I-90 corridor—between a renowned tourism destination and the Inland
Northwest’s largest metro—offers residents and businesses the best of both worlds.
As a result, Post Falls has experienced steady population and business growth. Since 1990, the city’s
population has grown from 7,350 to an estimated 48,303 residents by the end of 2024. That growth has
helped fuel a strong local construction industry and supported new retail, health care, and manufacturing
developments—especially along the expanding I-90 and Highway 41 corridors.
Between 2010 and 2015, Post Falls grew at an average rate of 2.4% annually. From 2016 to 2020, that rate
nearly doubled to 4.6% annually, and from 2021 through 2023, the city averaged 5.3% annual growth—
including a spike of 9.15% in 2021. The rise in multi-family housing developments, especially in west Post
Falls and along Highway 41, have attracted additional commercial investment.
Idaho’s reputation for affordability adds to its appeal. The state boasts one of the lowest costs of living in
the western U.S. and a commute time averaging under 21 minutes—giving Idahoans more time to enjoy
what matters most.
