The water was rushing very fast and she was swept along with

lots of other things that had also been swept up in the
floodwater. Sophie saw her dinner bowl rush past her along with

Ethel’s knitting bag, some books, her ball and Ethel’s slippers.

Sophie had never experienced anything like this before and was
very frightened. She hunched right down in her basket and clung

to the edge as tightly as she could, as she watched the world sail

by while her basket was carried along and spun around in the wild
water.
