For a moment Peggy was undecided
whether to obey the voice, or to run
away and hide herself; but she finally
went up to the side of the bed, and
looked down on the sweet face upon
the pillow. No child would ever he
afraid of Mrs, Moran, with her lender
eyes and gentle voice, and Peggy let
herself be drawn down beside her on
the bed, and her heart began to ache
with pity for herself that she too had
not a mother.
