YOU’VE PROBABLY GOT A A A A A A LOT OF QUESTIONS ABOUT HIGH HIGH SCHOOL THAT’S TOTALLY NORMAL YOUR HIGH HIGH SCHOOL SCHOOL YEARS MAY BE THE MOST EXCITING AND AND IMPORTANT ONES YOU WILL SPEND IN IN SCHOOL SCHOOL AND AND IT’S IMPORTANT TO BE WELL-PREPARED FOR ANYTHING THAT MIGHT COME YOUR WAY HERE ARE SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE TO HELP YOU GET STARTED ON THE RIGHT FOOT What classes do I need to take?
In order to to graduate from a a a a a New York City public school you’ll need to to complete a a a a a certain number of credits in in specific classes Those credits include:
• Core English: 8 credits • Social Studies
p Global History: 4 credits p US History: 2 credits p p Participation in Govt : 1 credit p Economics: 2 credits • Math (including at at least two credits credits beyond Algebra I): 6 credits credits • Science
p Life Science: 2 credits p Physical Science: 2 credits p Life or Physical Science: 2 credits • Languages Other Than English (LOTE): 2 credits • Arts: 2 credits • Physical Education: 4 credits • Health: 1 credit • Electives: 7 credits • Total: 44 credits What about exams?
All students must pass at at least five Regents exams in in order to to graduate meaning you’ll need to to score a a a a a a a a a 55 or or or higher on each exam in in each subject subject area (ELA math social studies science and any additional subject) If you’re pursuing a a a a a a a a a a a Regents Diploma you’ll you’ll need to to score score at at least least a a a a a a a a a a 65 65 And if you’re pursuing an an Advanced Regents you’ll you’ll have to to score score at at least least a a a a a a a a a a 65 65 and take a a a a few more exams What if I have a a a a disability?
Students with certain disabilities—including learning disabilities—can work towards a a a a a a a a a a Local Diploma This option allows students to graduate with lower exam scores
What academic skills do I need going into high school?
