Choosing the Right Bioreactor for the Right Job

               These species aren’t competitors.
They’re tools in a growing biologics toolbox.

                   • Want a rapid-response oral vaccine for outbreak
control? Choose lettuce for its speed and
                       containment.
                   • Need a daily-dose enzyme therapy with urban
manufacturing potential? Use duckweed for year-
                       round bioreactor efficiency.
                   • Building a long-term tolerogenic platform for
autoimmune disease in Southeast Asia? Leverage
rice for its storage stability and agricultural reach.

As the field matures, we won’t be asking if we can use
plants to grow medicine. We’ll be asking which plant
delivers the right balance of yield, delivery, tolerability,
and trust for the therapeutic at hand.

Because in edible biologics, the plant isn’t just the
               factory.

               It’s part of the drug.
