In the formation of the N2 molecule a bond is formed between 2 N atoms. In this
bond there are three pairs of bonding electrons. Thus, the N2 molecule has one
triple bond which is denoted by a triple line.
B. Based on The Polarization
Figure. Oil not mixes with water
Why can't water and oil mix? Have you ever heard the term "like dissolves
like". The term is an expression that occurs in the dissolving process. This means
that substances that are polar will only dissolve in polar solvents and vice versa.
1. Covalent Polar Bond
The polarity of a covalent bond is determined by the electronegativity of
an element. Polar covalent compounds usually occur between atoms of elements
with large electronegativity differences, have an asymmetrical molecular shape,
and have a dipole moment. The covalent bond that occurs between two different
atoms is called a polar covalent bond.
A polar covalent bond occurs when the shared electron pair is polar to one
of the atoms. The atom is polar because there is a large difference in
electronegativity between the bonded atoms. When the electrons are polarized,
a dipole is formed. There is one side that is positive while the other side is
negative. In a polar covalent bond, the electron pairs tend to approach the atom
