Roll the spike toward the vise, keeping the As shown in Figure 6-41K, enter under the next

Roll back to fair, then return the spike to the
original pair of standing-part yarns. Enter there
again, and roll back. Select the #2 strand—it’s
immediately to the left of #1. Give it a prebending
spiral, tuck it, and roll it home. You’ll now have the
#1 strand going under four yarns, and #2 entering
at the same point but emerging after going under
only two yarns (see Figure 6-41M).
Roll back to fair, then enter the spike under the
next pair of standing-part yarns to the left (Fig-
ure 6-41N). Roll back, prebend, and tuck the #3
strand—it’s just to the left of #2—and roll home.
Tuck strands #4, #5, and #6 under successive
pairs of standing-part yarns. Concentrate on mini-
mizing distortion and prebending the strands so that
they lie fair. To aid fairing, give each strand a coun-
terclockwise twist before prebending, to open the lay
a little more (see Figure 6-41O).
