Teachers share this success through ensuring that the student engagement is high.
Learning engagement is a critical factor for academic achievement and school
transitioning. Behavioural and cognitive concentration are supported through our
purposeful, play based lesson designs and integration of topics and student
interests. How much the children “like school” is key to motivation, participation,
and concentration. A smile tells the story! Time on tasks, individual support to each
child, based on needs, are strong predictors of success also.
During our “walkthrough visits” to branches, we always look for evidence of a
balance of child and teacher talk time. Questioning that encourages deep thinking,
and answers “how”? and “why”? questions, promotes higher level thinking, and is
a focus for our teacher training.
Your child’s habits and attitudes also contribute to their success. Behavioural
engagement supports their attention, participation, and build’s positive
relationships with their peers and their teachers. These attitudes build a child’s posi-
tive focus to learning new skills. We thank you for your support of this area of
child development. Following routines, and class rules makes learning predicable,
safe and fun for all!
Finally, we thank you for being partners in your child’s education. EPG’s motto, “Be
the Best You Can Be”, de nes our mission, to enable our students to be engaged,
lifelong learners, responsible global citizens, and leaders of tomorrow! Our Early
Years Department is committed to providing a safe, secure, and challenging
environment for your children.
We look forward to working next year with you all! Have a wonderful summer
holiday!
See you in September.
Warm regards,
Deborah Lalonde
