MINUTES OF THE AGM HELD ON FEBRUARY 7, 2015
Attendance – Hedy Edwards, Kim Davidson, Jamie Fleming, Katie Fleming, Glen Smith, Margaret Northcote, John Holmes (“John H”) , Vanessa Beach, Mark Shiers, Dan Barron, Jill Stokes, Bill Stokes, Bill Barron, Pat Stokes, John Northcote (“John N”), Erik Davidson, Perry Thompson, Robert Black, Jennifer Black, Michelle Campbell, Regina Baezner.
President Pat Stokes called the meeting to order.
A moment of silence was recognized for the passing of OPHA members in the past year.
John Northcote motioned that the minutes from the 2014 AGM be approved as presented. 2nd - Vanessa Beach. Carried.
Membership
A discussion was held concerning the increase in membership fees in 2014. Proposed increase to $30 per adult member, junior no change. Requires a membership vote to approve the changes. Motion – Bob Black – to increase OPHA adult membership to $30.00, juniors remain the same. 2nd – Hedy Edwards. Carried.
Vote taken of members attending the AGM – carried
John N reported on membership – in 2014 there were 155 Senior and 14 junior members. So far in 2015 there were 110 renewals. No comments were received on the rate increase for adults.
Financial statements
Regina Baezner presented the financials as printed. Motioned by John Holmes that the financial statements be approved. 2nd Hedy Edwards. Carried.
OEF
Hedy Edwards reported. OEF held no meetings in the year. There is a new system for grants, OPHA received no pay outs in 2014. Question of whether OPHA should remain a member of OEF for 2015. Voted on 11 in favour, 1 against. Motion – Bob Black – that the OPHA find out if there is still an association before paying 2015 dues. 2nd – Jamie Fleming. Carried.
It was discussed whether the OPHA should try the new process in 2015 to see if we can obtain funding. Hedy Edwards and John Northcote were tasked with being in charge of preparing 2015 applications on behalf of the OPHA.
Driving Clinic
Hedy Edwards reported – the driving clinic is on track to be held again in 2015. Same day as prior years, the Sunday of the May long weekend, at Bill Barron's property. The clinic being held will depend on whether 10 people or more sign-up
Promotional Team
John Holmes reported. The sales this year was impacted by the WPC in the US. The Team wanted to express their thanks to the OPHA executive and membership for their ongoing support. They are trying to keep inventory refreshed and come up with new ideas. They brought in work wear this year. They will try to cover the same fairs as in prior year. Team consists of Ellen Holmes, John Holmes and Judy Dick.
Canadian Percheron Horse Association
Bill Stokes reported as the new OPHA rep. There has been very little activity since he joined. Bill thanked Kim Davidson for his years of service and all he has done, and for staying on as the All Canadian
