Amazon Cruise
arly morning breakfast then at 08:30 we board the comfortable excursion skiffs and (with poncho’s to keep out
Ethe rain) and explore the Tahuayo black water river. We spot a variety of wildlife, including terns, black collared
hawks, monkeys and several sloth.
W e have a chance to fish for the fearsome, sharp-toothed piranha (I caught a fish - not piranha!!).
6:00 sees us heading off in the skiffs again to search for night wildlife – including nighthawks, frogs and
1caimans. We reach the mouth of a tributary where a group of villagers are fishing, then the water around us
starts to splash, a pod of pink dolphins chasing fish near us. We move into the river and see several species of
monkeys moving through the trees, but they are too small and quick to photograph. As darkness approaches we
spot bird life moving in the trees but too dark and far away to get photos. Back on board around 18:30, freshen up
for dinner at 19:30
Carole caught a fish!!
