Introduction of Servocyclotherm G at Digboi Refinery – An Import Substitution

COST SAVINGS

This import substitution has been a boon for the historic refinery due to the fact it has ensured
cost savings to the refinery to the tune of Rs 27 lakh annually. Replication of the same at other
refineries like Haldia and CPCL can also help in cost savings to our Corporation. The calculation of
cost savings for Digboi Refinery is based on the fact that last procurement price of Dowcal 100
was Rs 481/- per Kg for the refinery, whereas making our own product available at Digboi
is costing us about Rs 138/- per Kg including cost towards transportation from plant and
handling. This means, for average consumption of about 8 MTs in a year, the annual
saving amounts to nearly Rs 27 lakh as stated above.
