Chapter 3 Campus Life
Unit 2: Directions Going to School
Question: Try to describe how long it takes you to go to school. Explain
in simple words how to get to your school from where you live.
Answer 1:
From my house, I walk for five minutes to the bus stop. Then, I ride the bus. I usually ride the Bus
#20 or 21. Then, I get off at the main gate of the campus. It takes about an hour. Sometimes traffic
is heavy. I use the subway instead. I ride a bus to Line 6. Then, I get off at a bus station near the
school. I read a book or review my notes while riding the bus. Sometimes, I take a nap.
Points to emphasize in answering:
mention your starting point
[example: From my house]
tell the exact order of how you go to school. Transitions like ‘After’ or ‘Then’
helps a lot provide a time frame for the whole trip
[example: It takes about an hour.]
try to give an alternative way of going to school
[example: Sometimes traffic is heavy, so I use the subway instead.]
bus stop - a place on a bus route where buses stop to take in or drop off passengers
get off - leave a vehicle or aircraft
traffic - the movement of vehicles on a road or street
subway - an electric railway operating under the ground
