Answer 2:
We made a model of a volcano in class. First, we gathered information about volcanoes. Then, we
got materials to make the project. We used an empty bottle, baking soda, vinegar, detergent, water
and tissue. We placed the water, detergent and vinegar in the bottle. Afterwards, we wrapped the
baking soda in the tissue. Finally, we dropped the tissue in the bottle. The model volcano erupted!
We learned so much about chemical reactions.
Points to emphasize in answering:
Start by introducing what the project is
[example: We made a model of a volcano in class.]
Provide detailed steps in doing the project.
- Transitions like ‘First’, ‘Then’, ‘Finally’, etc. help in organizing the steps.
Conclude the discussion with what you learned in the project.
[examples: We learned so much about chemical reactions.]
volcano - a mountain or hill with a cuplike crater at the highest point
model - a small object that represents a bigger object in detail
gather - to get together
materials - tools to perform a given task
detergent - a cleansing substance
erupt - explode or break out
chemical reaction - a process in which one or more substances are changed into others
