Unit 2: Chatting on the Phone

Modern technology has made long distance communication more accessible and
affordable. Chatting over the phone has become more enjoyable for many people.
Try to discuss your thoughts about making phone conversations.

Answer A:
My family and close friends know that I love chatting on the phone. Making phone calls saves me
from all the hassle in order to get things straight and instantly. One example would be making a
call and longer conversation with my grandparents who are now living abroad. I could easily get
in touch with them and catch up on the things we missed to discuss. Another instance would
be settling a misunderstanding over the phone. Sometimes, it is hard resolving an argument in
person. That is why I make an effort to call the other party in order to fix things or to pacify the
situation. Although it is better to talk personally when resolving a conflict, a phone conversation
can help. Chatting on the phone can have several purposes apart from what I have already
mentioned. One could simply have it to spend pastime, or to do business. I appreciate the
presence of the landline and mobile phones in people’s lives. I think it connects more people
around the world in an instant.
