GENRE STUDY Historical fiction is a story that is set in a
real time and place in the past.
• Characters in historical fiction stories act, think, and
speak like real people from the past would.
• Characters may use slang that was common during the
time period.
• Authors of historical fiction might tell the story through
third-person point of view. In third-person point of view,
the story is told through an outside observer.
