Lesson 19
Super Hero
A fictional character with unprecedented
power is the description of the so-called super
hero. This started in 1938 with the character
of superman. Since then, many super hero
characters have emerged through comic books.
Some of them were: The Plastic Man, Ghost Rider,
Ironman, Batman and Fantomah. Fantomah is the
first known female super hero. She is an ageless
ancient Egyptian woman who can transform into
a skull-faced creature with superpowers to fight
evil. Female super heroes are also called super
heroines.
The common traits of super heroes are having
extraordinary powers, secret identities, huge
numbers of enemies and strong moral codes.
They also have secret headquarters, which serve as their safe house,

they are good examples especially to young kids because they portray
good morals and the willingness to help other people.
