Evidence Write the Next Scene
PROMPT
In The Secret Garden, you read how Mary discovered a hidden, locked door and
wondered what was on the other side. When she unlocked the door and saw the dead
but wild-looking garden, she felt “as if she had found a world all her own.”
Imagine what might take place next now that Mary has discovered this secret place.
Write a scene to continue the story. Include a beginning, middle, and end for the
scene, as well as details based on evidence from the story. Don’t forget to use some of
the Critical Vocabulary words in your writing.
