GENRE STUDY Historical fiction is a story that is set in a real
time and place in the past.
• Authors of historical fiction tell the story in chronological
order, or the order in which the events happened.
• Authors of historical fiction may use sensory details to
develop the setting and the characters.
• Authors of historical fiction might tell the story through first-
person point of view. In first-person point of view, a character
in the story is the narrator. First-person pronouns include I, me,
my, mine, and we.
