113 (MALIARDA twists the ring. Play slide-whistle sound effect. Lights out. GIGI, CAT, and
DOG exit right. Lights up full again.)
114 MALIARDA: Foolish Gigi, thank you for your wonderful ring and your fine mansion.
(To audience) If you think I have a cold heart, believe me, it’s not as cold as Gigi and
his friends are right now.
115 (MALIARDA exits left, laughing. Lights down.)
SCENE 4
116 (Spotlight on NARRATOR on the stool in down-right. Spotlight on GIGI, CAT, and DOG in
center stage. They are huddled together. Play howling wind sound effects.)
117 NARRATOR: Gigi and his friends are in big trouble. Thanks to Maliarda, they are on
top of the highest mountain in Italy. Freezing winds howl all around them.
118 GIGI (shivering): S-s-so c-c-c-cold!
119 DOG: I can’t feel my nose.
120 CAT: We have to get out of here!
121 GIGI: I don’t see any way down. We’re trapped!
122 CAT: There’s no way down on two legs, but I have
four! A cat always lands on its feet!
123 DOG: Gigi, you’ve been a good friend.We’ll get
your ring back from Maliarda.
