Sociologist Zhou Xiaozheng, from Renmin
University in Beijing, calls the large number of college
graduates who go to the city to find work “the ant tribe,”
because there are so many of them. In Beijing, at least
100,000 educated young people are living in crowded
neighborhoods and working hard for low pay.
