Evidence Write a Travel Advertisement
PROMPT
Great Discoveries and Amazing Adventures describes three amazing sites that have
existed since ancient times. These wondrous places are popular with tourists who are
interested in ancient history.
Imagine that your job is to write travel advertisements. Choose one of the three sites
and write an ad that persuades tourists to visit that site. Introduce your destination
with a “hook” that grabs the audience’s attention. Use details from the text to highlight
the site’s amazing, “must see” features. In your conclusion, tell readers to take action in
some way, such as calling a travel agency. Don’t forget to use some of the Critical
Vocabulary words in your writing.
PLAN
Draw a three-column chart. Label the columns Hook, Reasons and Evidence,
and Action. Use the chart to help you plan your travel ad.
