3 These poems are based on my life when I first
came to this country. How much I missed my
homeland! How fortunate I was to be alive in San
Francisco! These poems are my memories, my
dreams—the movies in my pillow. I dedicate them
to all the children from El Salvador—and to
children everywhere—with the hope that we may
all have a beautiful tomorrow.
—Jorge Argueta (HOR-hay ar-GEH-tuh)
