Evidence Write a Retelling
PROMPT
In Elisa’s Diary, a girl writes about adjusting to a new home and a new language.
Imagine that you are one of the other characters in Elisa’s story: a family member, a
teacher, José, or another classmate. Retell an event from the story from that character’s
point of view. Use evidence from the text to retell what happens, in order. Describe
things that Elisa says and does, but remember to tell it from your character’s point of
view. Use some of the Critical Vocabulary words in your writing.
