Evidence Write a Letter
PROMPT
In Mr. Linden’s Library, Carol begins reading a story from Tales From a Dark Sea, and
soon discovers that this story is like no other she has read before.
Imagine that you are Mr. Linden and that you noticed Carol’s interest in the book when
she visited your library. Write a fictional letter to Carol that you will leave inside Tales
From a Dark Sea for her to find after you are gone. Explain why you warned her not to
begin reading the book, and offer her some advice now that she has become captured
by its story. Write from Mr. Linden’s point of view, and use detailed evidence from the
text in your explanation and your advice. Don’t forget to use some of your Critical
Vocabulary words.
PLAN
Make notes about evidence from the text you will use in your letter.
