And when Willie B. Jr. fell into the moat around the gorilla enclosure, Willie
                                                   B. Sr. took charge. The keepers tried to put all of the gorillas in the building
so they could rescue the baby in distress without the distraction of the

curious other apes, but Willie B. would not hear of it. He insisted on staying
in the habitat above his trapped little one and even helped with the rescue
effort. Sure enough, Willie pulled Willie Jr. to safety. The once-lone gorilla
proved to be quite the “family guy.” Charles Horton says Willie has taught
him a valuable lesson: “It’s never too late for things to happen for you.”
