The U.S. uses an indirect voting system, the electoral
college, to select the president. Obama received 332
electoral votes out of a possible 538. Since 270 is the
required number of votes to win the presidency, it was
a decisive win. Obama’s opponent, republican Mitt
Romney, failed to gain support in several important
swing states, which have large numbers of undecided
voters. But, a rest from politics is nowhere in sight.
Some politicians already have an eye on the 2016 race.
