DMTC Recognizes Exemplary Students in Honor of Black His-
tory and CTE Month
BHS senior Rayshawn Simuel is a completer in
Computer Science and is currently taking Social
Media Marketing. He said he chose to come to
DMTC after a field trip where he saw teachers
who engaged students and loved their content.
He also participates in drama in lead roles at BHS.
After graduation, Rayshawn plans to attend Win-
throp University and study Computer Science (and
minor in Theater), and one day work as a cyberse-
curity specialist or own his own computer repair
business. Mr. Dubois, his finance teacher, de-
scribed him as “wonderful, kind, and thoughtful
and the poster child of encouragement.”
SHS senior Zarria Smith is a Sports Medicine com-
pleter, has taken Medical Terminology, and will
be a concentrator in Marketing as well here at
DMTC. To complement her Sports Medicine
courses, Zarria worked with the Spartanburg High
School athletic trainers and football team in the
summer and fall of 2019. She will also be job
shadowing the Athletic Trainers at Spartanburg
Methodist College. She is a member of the Na-
tional Beta Club and Varsity Softball while also
holding a job at Little Caesars Pizza. In addition,
Zarria received a scholarship to play softball for
SC State where she plans to study Biology and pursue a degree as a Physical Thera-
pist. Mrs. Ridgeway, her sports medicine teacher, described her as “an exemplary
student and athlete.”
