This type of extension was limited to the amount of cane rows that would
fit side by side on a head, usually no more than fifteen. This meant that
you would only have fifteen extensions from the nape of the neck and on
smaller heads less. Fig 4

In an attempt to create an all over head of plait extensions; a grid of one
centre metre square sections was taken all over the head. The natural hair
from each one centre metre section was divided into three strands, and
fibre added to each strand as it was plaited. The ends of the natural hair
blend invisibly as the fibre is plaited for its full length. Using this grid of
one centre metre square sections, meant that over fifty plait extensions
could be applied to one head, allowing the plaits to move and fall
