Chapter 8

                                                      Colouring

                   Colouring natural human hair:

As most of the Human Hair used is of the colour Off Black, it has to be
coloured to match Caucasian hair colours. The problem is, you will

remember from Volume 1 that the hair colour companies use a European
numbering system, basic shade, tone and secondary tone. Unfortunately,

all the Chinese and Korean factories use their own made-up numbering

system which has exotic numbers such as SSX62 what does that mean?

How am I going to match my client’s hair she is a 6.26? So, we have to

take a cutting of her hair to send to the hair supplier and try to match it.

If only the factories would only produce wefts, extensions and toupees in

European numbering system it would be easy to find a match and the

importers would not have warehouses full of stock they will never sell.

When it comes to fashion wigs, it does not matter what colours they use,

in some cases the more exotic the better, as they do not have to match the

client’s own hair, only their skin tone. I cannot in all truth tell you what

products they use in the factories to colour hair, I have heard stories of

nylon clothes dyes and others, so if you are buying hair to recolour then

only buy off black Remi Hair as it is completely un-chemically treated.

You may think it will be easier just to lift a lighter colour one shade

instead of natural Remi 7 shades, but the fact is that what was used to

achieve the lighter shade is unknown an may not lift at all.
