  Adjust the bed table at the appropriate height
                     Assist in removing the cover, cutting, and preparing food.
                     Present the food in an attractive manner
                     The meal should be placed near the patient where it can be seen & smelt to help in
                       stimulating appetite.

                       Equipment
                   1.  Extra pillow, if not a patch bed, Napkin
                   2.  Food on a clean tray
                   3.  Towel
                   4.  Glass of water
                   5.  Meal tray
                   6.  Drinking tube or feeding cup
                   7.  Over bed table
                   8.  Oral hygiene equipment
                   9.  Feeding spoon

                       Procedure
                   1.  Make the patient comfortable. Elevate head and shoulder if permissible.
                   2.  Protect the patient's gown and bed with a towel.
                   3.  Arrange tray conventionally. Place tray where it can be reached easily.
                   4.  Feed the patient as indicated.

                       12.2 Gastrostomy feeding
                       Definition: Gastrostomy is an operation performed to create an opening into the stomach
                       to administer food and medications. For insertion of the gastrostomy tube requires either
                       an upper abdominal midline incision or a left upper quadrant transverse incision.

                       Purpose
                       For long term use and total feeding supplementation.
                       For patients who cannot tolerate nasogastric or naso-entric tube.
                       Equipment
                   1.  Gastrostomy tube
                   2.  50 ml syringe
                   3.  Funnel
                   4.  Clamper
                   5.  Measuring jag
                   6.  Sterile gauze
                   7.  Adhesive tape
                   8.  Chart
