And sometimes, when you spill lemons
from your grocery bag, someone else will help you pick them up. Mostly, we don’t want to harm each other.
We want to be handed our cup of coffee hot,
and to say thank you to the person handing it.
To smile
at them and for them to smile back. For the waitress
to call us honey when she sets down the bowl of clam chowder,
and for the driver in the red pick-up truck to let us pass.
We have so little of each other, now. So far
from tribe and fire. Only these brief moments of exchange.
What if they are the true dwelling of the holy, these
fleeting temples we make together when we say, “Here,
have my seat,” “Go ahead — you first,” “I like your hat.”
That phrase ‘so far from tribe and fire’ is hugely revealing and indicative of our age, where many live isolated from family or community. We are lucky that as homeopaths, we belong to a tribe – the homeopathic community and in particular the veterinary homeopathic community, which although small, is supportive and caring. I know I feel hugely lucky to belong to it and that if I need help, I can reach out at any time. So I’ll finish this by saying thank you to all of you fellow members of the tribe and why not try out some random acts of kindness in the coming months and pass on the love.

Food for thought – Cat Bertje, 14 years old ESH, ginger By Ruth Boerekamp, Netherlands
Anamnesis (consultation september 2022)
Severe sinusitis, severe sneezing. green “bells” from the nose, sometimes white. For years now.
Conventional treatment: doxycycline often – on and off – no lasting results. Still sneezing with green bells.
Been in owner’s position since kitten (4 months).
Character
there). Because of the long-standing history of treatment with antibiotics, I added this one.
I prescribed Arsenicum because of its ‘claiming’ character. Wants to eat with the cuddles from ONLY the owner. It is very strict in this. I added Silicea because of the long chronicity of the case in a low frequency (so more physically embodied in the whole treatment).
F Sometimes a bit possessive towards the owner (she has to cuddle him – only the owner!). When the owner reads a book, the cat claims attention; when serving dinner, he
wants to be cuddles by the owner (only her).
Arthritis in the left shoulder region made the cat sometimes bite that area), both his knees are a bit arthritic (he is prescribed Onsior = COX-2 NSAID in conventional treatment).
Treatment
Because of the long-time running sinusitis, I chose a combination for this cat. Arsenicum 200K (2-3 times per week), with an ointment of Euphorbium compositum (Heel remedy, drainage) added to that Silicea D6 and D12 as a liquid remedy in a bottle along with the Arsenicum (1 drop 5 times daily of the drainage).
Added also MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), a sulphur component (but a bit different). It can help with communication between the cells (over the cell membrane) and helps stabilising those structures in the communication and better functioning (also draining the cell when it is blocked with chemicals, which don’t belong
