KNICKERBOCKER – WEST POINT #13 (LTC Jack H. Moore, Secretary). On Thursday, August 17,
2023, Sojourners and Brothers from West Point Masonic Lodge #877 assisted the Highland Falls Methodist
Church prepare & pack book bags and school supplies for the children of this small community just outside
the gates of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY. The village of Highland Falls was hit earlier this
summer with devasting rains and flooding causing much destruction and forcing many families from their
homes. Over 275 bookbags were provided to the local school district for distribution along with needed
household supplies. Then on Sunday, August 20, Sojourners and the West Point Brothers gathered again for
their annual summer picnic at the Round Pond Recreational Area on the West Point Military Reservation.
With a blue sky and the temperature in the low 80’s the weather was perfect for a picnic and outdoor
gathering. Throughout the afternoon, brothers and family members gathered for hamburgers, sausages and hot
dogs, as well as a “well stocked” dessert table provided by Brother Mike Peters. Additionally, Brother Moore
brought clams from Long Island. A great day was had by all. The next gathering of our Sojourner Chapter is
planned for a Sunday brunch on October 15, meeting at the Old ’76 House at 1130 in Tappan, NY. Spouses
and guests are always welcome to join us.
