CAMP LEJEUNE CHAPTER #329 (Denny Norris, Secretary) Members of Camp LeJeune Chapter #329
and Tun Tavern Camp, Heroes of ’76 participated in the 249th Anniversary Observance of the New Bern
Resolves on August 26, 2023 in New Bern, NC. The event was hosted by the New Bern Chapter, Sons of the
American Revolution (SAR) and the Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution
(DAR). The Toast to the Flag was presented by Past National President and Chapter Secretary, Brother
Denny Norris. Chapter President Glen Carpenter (SAR member), along with Brothers Johnny Surles, Michael
Aycock (SAR member), Bob Mull (SAR member), Bobby Meadows, Warren Taylor and Bob Savacool
(SAR member) marched in colonial attire for a short processional along Middle Street in New Bern, NC. The
street was lined by about 100 local Boy Scouts holding American Flags. Brother Bob Savacool provided the
invocation. The annual event honors the 71 delegates of the 1st North Carolina Provincial Congress.
LAFAYETTE CAMP, Baltimore Chapter #7 (Gerald R. Phillips, Secretary) On September 14, 2023,
members of Lafayette and Otho Holland Williams Camps served as the Color Guard at the annual celebration
held at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD, to recognize the brother Master Masons who are
residents there. Brother John LeRoy presented the “Toast to the Flag.”
