OMAHA CHAPTER #19, William D. Pickle, Secretary.
On September 2, 2024 the Nebraska State Fair honored Veterans. At noon Joseph Warren Camp, Heroes of
’76 presented “an Historic Flag Presentation” on the Earl May Stage. Brother Mo Krishna, his Lady Susanne
and Brother Bill Pickle, his Lady Judy along with their granddaughters Abigaile and Charlie Kay Pickle
brought a bit of history to Nebraska fair goers for a 50-minute presentation. The presenting brothers were in
Colonial Uniform and the Ladies were in traditional Colonial dress as well.
The Earl May Stage was centrally located near the main show floor for crafts, sales and about 100 yards from
the show barn. There was seating for approximately 100 in the audience. The food court seating was just
beyond the edge of the crowd space and well within ear shot of the presentation. That brought the total able to
hear to about 200. Many of those who came to eat, sat at the food court stayed until the end of the presentation.
Others who walked up to the edge of the crowd and listened for a time before moving on, some stayed until the
         end as well.
At the beginning of the presentation with the lunch crowd starting to drift into the food court area the
temperature was a pleasant 72 degrees with a slight breeze. The sound engineer had made sure the presentation
was clear and loud enough to hear on the main avenue. There were a few murmurs and aah’s in the crowd as
we presented the many flags. We also heard a few “I didn’t know that” from time to time. Olivia Koenig, State
Fair Coordinator, sent an email saying “Thank you for joining us at the fair this year! Your presentation was
well-received by our guest veterans and their families”.
After the presentations was completed and we were collecting our things we had several people come up to
us and congratulate us on a presentation well done. After the presentation we were able to walk about the State
Fair and were pleased to take pictures with more than a few of the Fair goers. This opportunity to present at the
Nebraska State Fair as Master Masons, National Sojourners and Heroes of ’76 was an honor.
