On Thursday, 15 August 2024 Sojourners from Chapter #13 and Brothers from the West Point Masonic
Lodge #877 assisted the Highland Falls Methodist Church prepare & pack book bags and school supplies for
the children of this small community just outside the gates of the West Point Military Academy. Over 300
bookbags were provided to local school children, who loaded them with notebooks, pens, pencils, looseleaf
paper and other school supplies as they walked past tables loaded with donated school supplies. The local
School District was also given additional donated classroom school supplies for teachers to use throughout the
year. This is the second year the Masons have been involved with this worthwhile endeavor and it has grown
exponentially and is a big hit for the local school children. Then on Sunday, 18 August 2024, Sojourners and
the West Point Brothers gathered again for their annual summer picnic at the Round Pond Recreational Area
on the West Point Military Reservation. With a cloudy sky and early
morning downpour, the Great Architect gave the Masons a 5 hour break and
the weather cleared for a great picnic and outdoor gathering. Temperature
was in the mid 70’s and throughout the afternoon, brothers and family
members gathered for BBQ hamburgers, sausages, and hot dogs, as well as a
“well stocked” dessert table provided by Brother Mike Peters. Additionally,
Brother Moore brought clams from Long Island and Brother Adrian Delarosa
provided an assortment of Mexican food and delights. A great day was had
by all. The next gathering of our Sojourner Chapter is planned for a Sunday
meeting on 3 November at the West Point Masonic Lodge at 314 Main Street,
Highland Falls, NY where we’ll initiate Brother Andrew Berry into the
Sojourners. Spouses and guests are welcome to join us.
