JAMES MONROE CHAPTER #549, KENT SCHLUSSEL, SECRETARY. James Monroe Chapter, Jack
Jouett Camp, Heroes of ’76 and their Camp Followers participated in the annual “Wreaths across America”
wreath laying at the Culpeper National Cemetery on December 17, 2022. The Culpeper National Cemetery
has over 11,000 graves. The Chapter sponsored 10 wreaths of the over 7,000 wreaths donated. After a brief
ceremony, the community placed wreaths on the graves. When each wreath is placed on the headstones, the
veteran’s name is said aloud along with the veteran’s name on either side of the grave. A salute is then
rendered to the veteran. The James Monroe Chapter sought out the grave of MSgt Edward L. Turner (USA), a
WWII veteran and father of William (Bill) G.L. Turner, Past National President, Legion of Honor and a
member of the Chapter. Overall, the members of the Chapter placed 20 wreaths on graves of Veterans.

LANGLEY-EUSTIS-MONROE CHAPTER #310 (Clarence E. Snyder,
Secretary) The 2023 recipient of the Annual Scholarship Award from Langley-
Eustis-Monroe Chapter #310, National Sojourners, is Ms. Kaitlyn Marie Reed.
Above, Chapter President J. Richard Rawls presents Ms. Reed with her Award
and a check for $500.00.
